This theme and variations could be divided up and played as separate movements, but since the material is based on the short provided theme, I felt it was more appropriate to grade it as a whole, although I will include difficulty grades for each movement. Many of the shorter movements are easier, but the finale runs the gamut of techniques and difficulty. The basic theme is relatively short and simple, apart from the artificial harmonics used to play the melody (about an 8). The first variation is quicker and difficult (around a 13), with multiple arpeggios that cross strings. The second variation is difficult to read, written in two staves, but is much simpler to play (about a 10), with some harmonics and a long melody above a quasi-passacaglia bass. The third movement, in E major, is a very quick scherzo that moves around the neck with lots of scale runs (about a 14). The slow fourth movement has some beautiful harmonies, and although it has perhaps the most difficult right hand chordal passages of the piece, it's slow tempo gives plenty of time for preparation (about a 12). The fifth movement is a short gavotte with amusing touches of a musette mixed in, which has some slightly difficult transitions but fits pretty well on the neck (about an 11). The finale is by far the most difficult movement, with some tremolo, ostinatos, and elongated chordal arpeggios (about a 16).
